AGM, Pub Night & Rainbow Room

The Pride AGM has been scheduled for Friday 27th March at 3:30pm in the Union Cinema. This is on the 5th floor of Union house, opposite the gym and the uni bar. If you can’t make the AGM you can send someone as a proxy to vote on your behalf (if you’re a paying member) or you are also welcome to come to part of the meeting if you have a class at 3 or 4pm. We are calling for nominations for board positions. The positions available are:

- President
- Vice-President
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- Activities Coordinator
- Peer-To-Peer Support Coordinator
- Activist Coordinator
- SRC Delegate (Position already filled via. the SRC)

The position descriptions are outlined in the Constitution which has been previously emailed. If you don’t have a copy or would like more information about the board positions, please let me know. If you would like to nominate yourself or a friend for a position I need to be notified at least two days before the AGM. All candidates will need to prepare something really short to say at the meeting – things will go a lot more smoothly if we know a little something about each other before we have to vote!

You need to be a paying member of Pride to run for a position and to vote at the AGM. If you have not yet paid you will have a chance to pay your $5 membership at the beginning of the AGM. For members who paid last year their membership expires at the start of the AGM, so they will need to renew their membership before the AGM in order to run for a position or to vote!

New members are encouraged to run for board positions, and to help everyone get to know each other before the AGM, we will be having a pub night next Thursday.

PUB NIGHT: Thursday 19th March from 5pm in the Uni Bar. Look out for Nat (our acting President) who will be wearing a black trilby (hat) with a white stripe. Or you can meet in the Rainbow room anytime before 5pm and head down to the Uni bar as a group. You will also have an opportunity here to pay your $5 membership if you would like to be able to vote at the AGM, and you also will get discount on Pride events throughout the year. ALL WELCOME – bring your friends!

The RAINBOW ROOM is situated on the 6th floor of Union House (opposite Rumours Café). This is Pride’s VERY OWN room, available to pride members and associates. We have a fridge, microwave, coffee and tea making facilities, couches, reading material, notice boards, info about services available, and even a table if you feel the need to study! The room should be open all day so come and check it out, and meet some of your fellow Pride members!

See you around!

Fi (Treasurer) on behalf of Natty O (Acting President)

O’Week and Bowling Night

Hey guys,

Below are the details for everyone volunteering for O’Week…

23rd to 26th February – meet 9:30am in the Rainbow Room to set up, finished by 4pm. I will bring games to play, so come and meet us and have a go at beating us at Trouble, Uno Stacko etc…and someone definitely needs to bring Twister!!

Also, info on bowling night…

26th Feb @ 6pm – Norwood Bowling Alley (11 Osmond Tce, Norwood)

$12-$16 for 2 games. It might be $16 due to inflation and the fact that I booked it so early! ;P The booking is for 20 people, so I NEED to know if you can DEFINITELY make it as soon as possible – this means phone, email, pigeon, however it takes for you to get the info to me! It would also be cool to know who is driving, so we can carpool newbies if we need to. People who can give lifts will meet at Adelaide Uni, those who can only transport themselves will meet at the bowling centre. Finer details to be worked out over games during the start of O’Week!

Cheers – Natty O :)

New Constitution

Congratulations everyone! We’ve finally passed the necessary amendments to the Constitution! Big thanks to everyone that contributed to the voting process – this Constitution will make Pride a stronger club in its sophmore year! For those who delete their emails regularly and fancy having another read, a copy of the amended document will be posted shortly on this website in the ‘Formal Stuff’ section.

O’Week is coming up shortly, and this is Pride’s best chance to recruit new members, engage with the student community and generally have a blast whilst promoting ourselves and the support network we offer to all Adelaide GLBTI students. Pride will have a stall up on Hughes Plaza from 23rd to the 26th of February between 9:30am and 4pm, and I need one board member on the stall at all times! I’ll be there for a good part of it but I need your help! So email me at adelaideuniversitypride@hotmail.com with what days and times your available to help out. Members who aren’t on the board but are willing to help out are also welcome (and will be greatly appreciated!)

Big congrats to Peter Reeve, a Pride member who has been appointed the Student Representative Council’s Queer Officer for 2009. Peter will be running campaigns on behalf of all GLBTI students at Adelaide Uni with the aim of increasing visiblity and awareness of queer issues. If you have any great ideas (or even want to say hi!) email Peter on peter.reeve@student.adelaide.edu.au.

The next notice is of the forthcoming AGM (Annual General Meeting) in which a new board will be elected. This will be held on Wednesday March 4 at 4pm in the Clubs Association office (Lady Symon building, just off the Cloisters). An email will be sent out shortly to all paying members asking for nominations – for those who are still continuing on in Pride for 2009, please take note of the board positions and start to consider who you wish to fill these positions; be that yourself or a friend.

Natty O
(Acting President)
